WHY I CREATED BECOMING ON PURPOSE
I created Becoming On Purpose to give girls and young women something many of us never had enough of:
space to slow down, reflect, and decide who they want to become beyond expectations.
Too often, young women are asked to make major life decisions before they’ve had the chance to fully understand themselves first.
I created this work to help change that.
Through reflection, conversation, and practical tools, I help young women build confidence, clarify identity, and move forward with intention.
Because we’re all becoming something.
My goal is to help them become on purpose.
This work is deeply shaped by both my personal journey and the work I’ve done over the years.
MY BECOMING
I grew up in a small town in New Jersey as the middle child and only girl in a blended family, learning early how environments, expectations, and roles shape how we see ourselves.
That curiosity led me to study Psychology at Rutgers University, where I began exploring how identity is formed and how it influences the way we think, feel, and make decisions.
Over time, that interest became hands-on.
For more than seven years, I’ve mentored and supported adolescents and young adults across foster care, group homes, and educational programs, helping them build confidence, self-awareness, and direction.
At the same time, I was navigating my own path as a Black woman building a career in corporate America.
Professionally, I’ve spent over 14 years leading audience research and brand strategy for organizations including Sony, Paramount, and Crunchyroll, helping companies better understand people and connect with them in meaningful ways.
Becoming On Purpose brings all of that together:
psychology, lived experience, mentorship, and a deep commitment to helping young women move through life with clarity, confidence, and intention.
